Iron Man 2 / Der Eisenmannen Zwei

Just saw Iron Man 2… I love superheroes, but could do without the sometimes horrible political messages… The first flick was about how weapons of mass destruction are bad – in the wrong hands. But with good red-blooded American industrialists like Tony Stark they can do a world of good. Go WMD! But this one was ever worse. It’s essentially a movie telling you how superior people such as multi-billionaires should run the world because they’re simply better than the rest of us. There’s a thin line between a superhero fantasy and an Ubermensch fantasy, and I think Iron Man 2 crossed it…

What happened to Sarah?

Posted in arg, link, occult on 04/07/2010 by theycallmelefty

I like to play in the occasional ARG (Alternate Reality Game for those not in the know), and this caught my eye: What happened to Sarah?

I already called the phone number in the calling cards (not in use), but the website is live. Goldman and Dawn is clearly a link to the Golden Dawn, an occult organization. The front page mentions Sarah DiMichaela. Probably the Sarah we’re looking for. And on the site there’s a link to her Twitter account.

Her college is called Thelema College, here’s their website. The Dean’s name is Vincent DiMichaela, Sarah’s brother. The college crest, also more than slightly occult, is in the picture.

So… Satanic co-ed gets abducted by aliens? You don’t see that on television.

If this were a real movie, I’d watch it every Christmas in my secret lair. I give you X-Mas Originas: Santa!

A cool new blog from a Nigerian prince

Posted in blog, link on 03/23/2009 by theycallmelefty

I was asked to act as a ”press secretary” for a blogger that I only know online. He writes a funny blog about his life as a Nigerian prince, his money making scams, and stuff like that, as if he was the guy sending all that spam.

He writes it in ALL-CAPS just as any proper spammer would. This, and his blog title, and his name, and everything else combine into him not being able to e-mail anybody about his blog, since it would automatically be caught by the spam filter. Since I like the blog, I promised to spread the news. If you like it, do the same.

The guy’s name is Bill Ogedengbe, and he lives in New York. I have no idea if he really is descended from Nigerian royalty, or if he’s just some black guy with a cool story.

Blank released online for free

Posted in bittorrent, blog, films, link on 03/22/2009 by theycallmelefty

Annodam Films just released the Rick L. Winters film Blank for free via BitTorrent, and for pay on DVD. Interesting: You download it, watch it, if you like it, you donate money or buy the DVD, and the filmmakers (not studio heads) get paid.

”It is our concept that if people like the movie they will go back and make a donation at http://www.blank-movie.com, or one of our other sites, thus allowing us to make another film and release it in the same manner. Basically the consumer pays what they think the film was worth to them.”

”After several distribution offers Rick L. Winters decided the best coverage for the film would be through self distribution and peer to peer networks. He believes that the art of film should not be denied to anyone because of their financial status. With the ever growing cost of going to the cinema, the future of film is in the home market through peer to peer distribution.”

”The thing that makes this film unique is that it is a co-op based concept where are the entire cast and crew worked on a deferred percentage of the films gross. In other words, the cast and crew own a percentage of the films gross, so the profits are not going to Hollywood executives but instead into the pockets of the filmmakers themselves. Again the objective is to use profits from this film to make another movie and release it in the same manner. No one should have to pay for a film they did not like. No one should be denied the right to enjoy the art of film.”

”In the past Hollywood has dictated what we all see and how we see it but all that is about to change with the upcoming revolution of how film and media is distributed peer to peer. I have seen firsthand the greed that lurks in the Hollywood corporate circles.”
